ASHE Wins MarCom Gold for Event Rebrand
November 14, 2023
WASHINGTON, D.C. — 360 Live Media and Smithbucklin are honored to announce that the American Society for Health Care Engineering’s (ASHE) annual conference was the recipient of the distinguished Gold Award in the Event Rebrand category at the 2023 MarCom Awards. ASHE’s Health Care Facilities Innovation Conference is the premier gathering for collaborative advancement in the rapidly changing health care physical environment landscape.
Aiming to reinvigorate the formerly named ASHE Annual Conference & Technical Exhibition, ASHE partnered with 360 Live Media and Smithbucklin to rename and rebrand their annual flagship event — the United States’ largest and longest-running gathering dedicated to health care facilities management — to reiterate the value this event provides to its dedicated community base and expand its reach to newer, younger, and more diverse audiences. For more than sixty years, the conference has supplied trusted knowledge and necessary tools to health care facility professionals who are dedicated to operating and maintaining safe, efficient and effective care environments.
“At ASHE, we are committed to evolving and adapting to meet the changing needs of the physical environments where health care is delivered,” said Lizzie Ortolano, Executive Director of ASHE. “By partnering with 360 Live Media and Smithbucklin, we’re reimagining the conference experience to provide health care facility professionals with even more insights and experiences to excel at their job in these transformative times.”
The conference features programming with essential core competencies needed for facilities managers and directors, infection prevention professionals, sustainability professionals, contractors, manufacturers and consultants to be successful at optimizing the health care physical environment, while also earning their Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) designation. Whether an attendee is focusing on strategic approaches, looking for practical solutions, exploring new ideas or seeking foundational knowledge, the conference's diverse range of sessions caters to any individual’s specific needs.
“The health care facilities field is evolving, and so is ASHE,” said Jack Macleod, President of 360 Live Media. “ASHE is committed to supplying a space for innovation, cost-saving and proactive strategies, while also advocating to alleviate the regulatory burden. This conference is a unique opportunity for health care professionals to collaborate with new and dynamic voices while also continuing to spearhead cutting-edge innovations.”
The MarCom Awards honor excellence in marketing and communication while recognizing the creativity, hard work and generosity of industry professionals. Since its inception in 2004, MarCom has evolved into one of the largest, most respected creative competitions in the world. Each year about 6,500 print and digital entries are submitted from dozens of countries.

Events in 2036: Three Futures Already Taking Shape
Scenarios like these will be here faster than we think. As Convene looks back on the past 40 years, we thought it might be fun to peek ahead to the next 10. What might we be reflecting on at the 50th anniversary? This is a useful practice called foresight visioning. By looking at signals from today and asking what they could mean for our industry and our audiences, we can begin to make more intentional choices about the future we are shaping.Time travel with me to 2036.

Redesigning Events Starts With Asking Better Questions
I spoke on a panel recently about redesigning association events, and I’ve been thinking about one idea that kept coming up in different ways. When an event needs to change, the first question should not be, “What should we add?”

Designing Connection with Intention
At a recent event, I decided to run a small experiment on myself. It was a new community for me, and I specifically wanted to expand my network. So instead of choosing content by topic or speaker, I looked for sessions that were designed around connection. This was a challenge for me. I’m a very introverted person and I expected to feel drained at the end of each day. I was surprised to find the opposite. What I learned is something I think every event organizer should pay attention to.
