Our Refreshed Newsletter: Wake Up Call

April 19, 2021

Starting next week, you’ll notice something different about my blog.

You’ll still get it every Monday right around 7:00 AM EST, just like you always have.

However, instead of receiving an email called Don’s Blog, you’ll be receiving Wake Up Call—a new weekly email digest that offers more insights, relevant content and updates. Wake Up Call will still feature my blog each week, but it will also include thought leadership and news you can use written by my colleagues here at 360 Live Media.

Why the change?

For starters, next week 360 enters its second decade (we’re celebrating our 10th anniversary on April 27th). As our company has grown in serving the non-profit community, so has our team and they have lot to share. You’ll soon be hearing from voices across multiple generations, disciplines, and perspectives that I know you’ll enjoy, relate to and find useful as you navigate your week.

I am grateful that you make time each week to read this blog. I think about you when I write it, and I value the comments you share with me. Thankyou!

Why the name Wake Up Call?

Every week, it’s my hope that we will add a dose of caffeinated thinking and provide a gentle nudge or perspective that moves you ever so slightly forward in how you’re thinking about your own responsibilities, job, career and your own life. We are all in this together.

What’s next?

Please give our new format a try, share the Wake Up Call with your colleagues and encourage them to subscribe, and let me know what you like and what you don’t. The more people we can help, the more impact we can create together.

Redesigning Events Starts With Asking Better Questions

I spoke on a panel recently about redesigning association events, and I’ve been thinking about one idea that kept coming up in different ways. When an event needs to change, the first question should not be, “What should we add?”

Designing Connection with Intention

At a recent event, I decided to run a small experiment on myself. It was a new community for me, and I specifically wanted to expand my network. So instead of choosing content by topic or speaker, I looked for sessions that were designed around connection. This was a challenge for me. I’m a very introverted person and I expected to feel drained at the end of each day. I was surprised to find the opposite. What I learned is something I think every event organizer should pay attention to.

How to Make Change Feel Possible

In uncertain times, familiar choices feel safer. This is why so many organizations get stuck.
